Hurrah, my reading nook is completed! Oddly, I always tend to read more in the summer than I do at other times of the year. I’m not really sure why this is because I spend infinitely more time outside during the warmer months than I do for the rest of the year. Perhaps it’s because work tends to slow slightly during the summer, especially with #SummerFridays that make each work week feel a lil’ shorter. That said, this year is going to be a whole different ball game because nothing in 2020 is business as usual. When quarantine first started I found it hard to focus on reading but in the last month or so I’ve upped my game and gotten back into the routine again. It’s helped by the fact I recently finished styling out this reading nook in our main bedroom at the beach house.
The coziest spot to sit and read Layered blues create a summer vibe
Most of the beach house is decorated in a blue and white palette which makes it easy for me to pull pieces from around the home to style out new corners like this reading nook. I love how the sunlight softly streams into this spot — it’s such a relaxing corner in which to read. The faux olive tree comes potted and is perfect for adding a little greenery to this nook. The vase is handmade; I found it in Spain and was so relieved I managed to transport it home in one piece! I sourced all of my pillows for this nook from Serena & Lily and I linked all of them on the image below so you can easily shop them!
