The saying ‘kitchens and bathrooms sell houses’ may well be true but personally I think creating a beautiful bathroom is a very personal choice, not something that should be approached with a view to selling the house. This is a room that’s well worth investing in given how much it will be used – and the design has to be versatile because it will need to work hard get being practical when you’re in a rush and restful when you’re in the mood to relax. I think a great way to invite colour into a bathroom design is through a colourful bath tub – it’s the perfect way to make a memorable and stylish colour statement. With that in mind, I’ve pulled together seven knockout examples of brightly coloured bath tubs that will hopefully spark an idea in your head to invite colour into your own bathroom.
First up is Sorbet Sweet, where a primrose yellow tub acts as the perfect accent to the gentle pastel pink walls. The yellow might seem like a brave step when buying the paint but when used in this manner and paired with an appropriate colour it can create a serene yet vibrant bathroom scheme. A big thumbs up from Mr. Bazaar! Onto Pistachio Punch where an English country charm vibe comes through loud and clear. This colour choice is ideal for inviting colour into an otherwise neutral space full of artefacts and curiosities. The third scheme is a fine example of how to clash patterns to bring interest to a restricted palette; the polka dot and floral patterns further pronounce the different in shade between the blues of the wallpaper and tub. Number four switches up the temperature with an exotic palette of burnt oranges and yellows, paired with Hammam towels and jute textures that nod to Eastern influences. Absolute Aqua is a much more modern scheme and would work well with contemporary fixtures and fittings such as the bathroom vanities from Modern Bathroom. Notice how the subtle introduction of lavender in the chandelier helps to break the aqua palette. If you’re looking to bring an element of surprise into a utilitarian bathroom then a shot of lime green is a sure fire way to achieve a colour statement – I love how it looks next to the metro tiles in this design. Finally, a sophisticated shade of orange can bring an unusual twist to a regal scheme. In Grand Glam we see how the colour of the tub helps to make this spacious bathroom with lofty proportions feel more intimate and inviting. Which of these seven colourful bath tubs do you like best?

I need a claw foot tub in my life.
Thank you for this post Will, super helpful as working on a new bathroom design this morning and these are all gorgeous examples – I think the pistacchio green is my favourite if I HAVE to pick one! LMH x
This post has reignited my bathroom makeover flame, thanks, Will! We actually have more colour than we’d like in our bathroom as the entire suite is pale turquoise. Yep. We’re not able to replace the suite and properly redo the whole bathroom at the moment but I think I’ve settled on an accent colour, besides white, that will work with the current suite and also when we replace it with a lovely white suite. And the accent colour is… pale yellow! Fingers crossed it works, I’ll keep you posted… 😉
@Gabrielle – I can’t wait to see how it turns out! Always fun to have a little project!
Oh, all tubs are beautiful!!
I like the absolute aqua the best–but really, I’d love to have any clawfoot tub!
