I last visited Las Vegas two years ago to celebrate the start of my first American book tour. My heartmate and I headed to see Britney Spears live at Planet Hollywood and it was so.much.fun. So when AXE invited me to head to a concert and style up my gig style for their Stage Pass series, I knew immediately where I would go and what I would see – Jennifer Lopez’s new Vegas residency! Click through after the jump to see how I kept cool despite cramming stacks of color hunting fun and a live gig into just 12 hours in Las Vegas!
With just one day and night in Sin City, I was keen to wear an outfit that I could easily transition from day to night. I opted for selvedge denim, grey suede chukkas, a light grey woolen cardigan and a classic chambray button down. A leather watch and belt with a brass bracelet rounded out the look for my color hunting and gig adventures. Before heading to the gig I had to make a stop into Las Vegas’ Neon Boneyard Museum as it’s a total color lover’s dream. No, seriously, this place is off the scale cool.Once inside the museum you are toured by an expert who shares fascinating anecdotes and tit-bits of Vegas history. They allow time for photos too, so I was madly snapping away at every opportunity. Color combinations, weathered textures and awesome typography: it’s all there for the taking, you guys!Despite being freezing first thing in the morning in Vegas (thanks for that, desert locale!), by the time the sun had properly risen the temperature was just perfect: warm with a cool breeze. At times, in the direct sunlight, it was too hot for more than one layer. This is why I love wearing layered outfits; it’s so easy to transition as the weather changes throughout the day. Plus, wearing AXE’s new White Label Collection kept me feeling dry and confident for the whole trip.Much like in home decor I can’t get enough of blue and grey in fashion, either. No surprise, then, that layered blues, light grey and tan is literally my go-to palette when it comes to styling an outfit. Color lovers listen up: the Neon Boneyard Museum is very close to the Arts District area in the downtown part of the city. It’s well worth checking out for colorful street art and cool independent stores. The museum team did such a great job of displaying all the various signage; the layered colors left me feeling inspired to try out new palettes for designs once I arrived back home.Remember when I said earlier how it got pretty hot by the time the sun was fully risen? Well, the blue sky you see above say’s it all – gorgeous! I loved this vignette of old neon because the dusty pink, soft mint, grass green and yellow complimented each other really well. My old office was decorated in this palette so it brought back fond memories.Ha! Of course I had to snap the moment my outfit co-ordinated with the blue and yellow neon display. This had our tour group giggling as it didn’t take them long to realize just how much I loved color!I love this picture, it’s one of my favorites! This East Coast boy was taking a minute to enjoy the sunshine ahead of the gig!A little whimsy often finds its way into my outfits. In this case, it was the subtle polka dot pattern in my grey socks.Grey + blue is total #MakeYouSmileStyle! Before I knew it, I was at Planet Hollywood seeing the opening night of Jennifer Lopez’s Vegas residency. The atmosphere was electric as fans from all over the world (and celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Nicole Scherzinger and many more) gathered to celebrate J.Lo’s vast catalogue of hits. It was a high energy evening with loads of dancing, so I was pleased to delayer down to my chambray shirt.Isn’t it great how seeing an artist live for the first time makes you connect with their music that bit more? Since returning home I’ve not stopped listening to her back catalog of hits. Here’s J.Lo’s Las Vegas residency set list (on 01/20/16):
“If You Had My Love”
“Love Don’t Cost a Thing”

Such great photos Will! I have never had an interest in Vegas, but the Neon Boneyard Museum looks fantastic. I’ve been to the American Sign Museum in Cincinnati, OH before and absolutely loved it.

Listening to J. Lo as I read this post, scouts honors, so I’m only a tad jealous that you got to see her live. I’m sure that was a treat!
