Back in March I turned 30 and while I was on vacation in Mexico I reflected on what I learned from my twenties. I was fortunate enough to see in my thirties by spending four blissful days at the stunning Fairmont Mayakoba Riviera Hotel and Resort. The resort is situated within 240 acres of tropical forest intersected by crystal clear waterways and surrounded by a pristine Caribbean shoreline. From incredible sunset moments to swimming in stunning infinity pools the trip was full of design inspiration and relaxation time. After the jump I’m taking you on a tour of this incredible Fairmont Mayakoba property via amazing aerial views from my drone, and the exquisite tropical interiors at ground level. Here’s the thing: my heart mate and I only tend to book a hotel if there’s an ‘adults only’ pool. Thankfully, the Fairmont Mayakoba resort had this stunning pool just for adults (seen above) and it was perfect! The hotel was actually very kid friendly but there were still pockets of calm that were ideal for couples and those looking for a more low-key experience. It’s rare to see a hotel cater to these two different types of travelers so well, but Fairmont Mayakoba did so with ease. Color me impressed!
Here’s another one of the stunning pools. This was the closest pool to our suite and I often enjoyed an early morning swim here. It felt incredible to have the pool completely to myself while I looked out over the beautiful Caribbean Sea.
Can you see my down there led next to the plunge pool? This was on the roof of our suite, which was situated right by the waterways that weave through the resort. Fairmont Mayakoba was designed and built with the conservation and consideration of the surrounding mangrove. These are the forests of the coastline which are considered the “kidneys of the planet” as they are responsible for cleaning the water in the coral reefs.

Time for a tour of the suite we stayed in. You’ve seen it from above but this is what it looks like inside. I shared a tour of the room on my Instagram Story when I first arrived and the number of messages freaking out about it was unreal! Naturally, I loved the turquoise and orange color palette – so fitting for the exotic locale.
The spacious bedroom led directly out onto a completely private balcony from where you could sit and watch the colorful birds and charming wildlife (hello, turtles!) that surrounded the property.
That hit of navy in the couch? I’m feeling it! The relaxed and casual interior still felt luxe… 
… a feeling that was encouraged by the Le Labo toiletries in the bathrooms!
My heart mate and I don’t often visit all-inclusive resorts, normally opting for board-only so that we can explore and try out local restaurants instead. However, on this trip we really just wanted to totally unplug and relax so we stayed (and ate!) on property the entire time. We were pleasantly surprised at the wealth of very good food options available at the Fairmont Mayakoba resort. Our favorite was the Latin-Asian menu at El Puerto restaurant but La Laguna also offered a great breakfast and delicious Mexican food, too.

The Fairmont Mayakoba is the perfect resort if you are looking to unplug in private, luxurious surroundings for a few days. The staff couldn’t have been more hospitable and the facilities are the resort were bountiful to keep both young and old guests occupied. We loved taking the conversation river cruise to learn about the mangrove and the wildlife within it just as much as we did relaxing quietly by the pool, or sipping cocktails people watching as guests tried out watersports on the beach below. My favorite color combo is turquoise and lime, but my second fave is turquoise and coral. That room is gorgeous! My hubs has been wanting to go to Mexico and our besties have been talking up the all-inclusive. Of course, the conservation angle is big for me and we’ve always loved Fairmont properties. The hubs and I honeymooned here – could not have been more impressed with the warm, welcoming, and accepting staff. The mezcal cocktails at the lobby bar and fried rice at the restaurant below are must-try.
