How to Wear Jewel Tone Outfits

jewel colored outfitCan you believe Thanksgiving is this week? I feel like I closed my eyes for a second and suddenly we jumped from September to the end of November – fall absolutely flew by! As much as I love all the colors of fall, the holiday season is one of my favorite times of year and comes with it’s own burst of brights! With Turkey Day later this week, I’m excited that the festivities are soon to be in full flow. With this time of year comes a host of holiday parties and social events so I wanted to share a post with some tips for dressing in jewel colored outfits for the season. Jewel tones are perfect for getting into the holiday spirit but I appreciate they can be a touch daunting for some. So, here’s how to make those jewel colored outfits work for you.jewel colored outfitI centered this jewel colored outfit around my mulberry colored pants, pairing them with a striped yellow shirt to introduce pattern. The yellow shirt works really well with the purple pants because they are complimentary colors. As jewel tones already have a rich and striking color, there’s no need to contrast colors because the tones themselves add visual interest and are strong enough to tell the outfit color story without a contrasting partner. I also keep my accessories simple and classic so as not to compete with the jewel colors. Here, I wore a vintage watch but this one from Timex is a good alternative option for wearing with jewel colored outfits.jewel colored outfitI wore a black Sandro bomber jacket over the striped shirt (similar linked here) as a grounding neutral; it also tied in well with these everyday black sneaks, too.       @Dean – Personally I prefer this look with a little pattern but you could go for more of a color blocked look. If you did, definitely wear a jacket with it! 🙂
