When it comes to my wardrobe I love nothing more than knowing I have a set of denim basics that I can use as the base to build out an outfit, or throw on to quickly complete a look. So when American Eagle Outfitters invited me to road test their range of jeans and denim I was 100% game!
Jeans and a tee are my go-to in the week when I need a comfortable ‘throw on and go’ look that I can dress up or down easily from day to night. This pair of skinny jeans ticks that box with ease. Sometimes skinny jeans can be uncomfortably tight but this pair felt super comfortable and lightweight – ideal for summer!To be honest it’s rare that I don’t cuff the bottom of my denim; I like how it loosens an outfit and lets me either show off a colourful sock or playful pair of boaters.Yellow! We all know how much I love this colour and even more so when it’s paired with blue. It was love at first sight between this playful tee and my new pair of skinnies. I have a feeling this duo will be a colourful summer staple in the months ahead.When it comes to stonewash jeans I like them to have some light fading but not be OTT with distressing, so this pair felt like the right balance for my personal aesthetic. The occasional stitch, tear and patch detailing give the pair personality without killing the colourful and playful vibe of the overall look.I rounded out the outfit with a simple, timeless watch piece that has mint hands. I picked up on this colour accent in the bracelets as a way to break up the yellow and pale blue palette of the overall outfit.For my second outfit I decided to wear the vintage denim jacket. I instantly liked how the jacket has the look and feel of timeworn blue denim – it felt like one of those pieces that will live in my wardrobe season after season. A timeless classic!The lighter blues of the jacket pair perfectly with a graphic, bold navy and white stripe. I like to bring contrast into my outfits and this dark-meets-light is a perfect example of one of my favourite looks. A neutral pant helps to keep the whole outfit feeling fresh and summery; the navy shoes balance the bottom of the look by referencing the striped top.The jacket has a slim cut so it fits well both buttoned and unbuttoned. If I try a jacket and it only works one way I tend to leave it in the store because I like knowing I have the flexibility to wear a piece either way.What can I say? Wearing this blue beauty makes me SMILE!The contrast cuff detailing on the jacket is a nice touch. Rolling the cuffs, or leaving them loose as I have here, is an easy way to give the jacket a laid-back, thrown on look. I’d love to know what you think of my two outfits? @Josh – Cheers, man!
Love this post! I have sent it to my husband! 😉
@Jules – Haha! I hope he likes it too! 🙂
What size did you take on the jacket? Working out how slim cut the jacket is before I order…
@Ben – I went for a small and it fits perfectly. I’m normally a small/XS. It’s not a super slim cut, just a normal slim, I’d say.
All my jeans have been American Eagle since I started buying my own clothes around 17-18 years old. I’m a girl with a small waist and larger hips and for some reason American Eagle jeans have always fit me the best (without the stupid gap at the top of my bum). They just have the best jeans in my opinion……guess they also work for boys. Double points for them.
@CB – Yes, double points for AEO for sure! 🙂
Looking good as always mate! :)x
@Fauzi – Cheers!
