IKEA often surprises with their limited edition collections. Their latest, TILLFÄLLE, inspired by the colors and patterns of Rio ahead of this year’s summer Olympic Games in the city, is no different. Bold patterns, mixed colors and an air of Scandinavian minimalism. The collection just launched in the US a few days ago and is a wonderful opportunity to invite more hue into your home! I love the fusion of the bold Brazilian inspirations and the subtle Scandinavian simplicity. From larger furniture to smaller accessories, there’s a ton of color and pattern waiting for you to enjoy, so click through after the jump to see the full collection!
I can’t get enough of these wall tiles – such a great combination of hue and patterns, don’t you think? I’d love to see a statement kitchen splashback in these blue beauties.I was intrigued to learn that even though there are many similarities between Scandinavian and Brazilian design and architecture, it is the differences in the Brazilian way of life that IKEA wanted to celebrate through this collection. Mette Nissen, creative leader of TILLFÄLLE, explains: “Everything in Brazil is a bit more relaxed than what we’re used to in Scandinavia. Sizes are more generous, architecture more extreme and people are more life-affirming.” Sounds like it’s time to host a party!The idea for the TILLFÄLLE collection began by the team looking at their Scandinavian design heritage, questioning how far the style could be stretched. To find out, a team of designers and product developers travelled to the vibrant city of Sao Paulo to immerse themselves in the Brazilian culture – museums, markets, restaurants, street art and architecture – which all then fed back into the design direction.I think I’m going to need to pick up these adorable salt and pepper shakers. Such a fun addition to a summer entertaining table, right?Just look at these textiles! The main inspiration for these patterns came from the street art seen in Brazil. I like how there’s an opportunity to mix large scale patterns with more intricate prints. Oh, and that parrot? I can’t – so fun!The classic black and white STOCKHOLM stripe rug was a hit all over the world, so I predict that the Brazilian take on that design in the collection (seen above) will be a big hit.Let me know below what pieces are catching your eye from this colorful collection inspired by Brazil! // Photography by IKEA, used with permission

The tiles are super fun but I am a little skeptical how well will this design age. After all no one wants to rip them off the wall after only a couple of years.
Textiles are much easier to change and I love the designs. Brings something exotic into our homes.

@Agnes – True, textiles are definitely a more transient way to bring in color and pattern. For those who know they love a look, I think the tiles offer a great chance to create a statement feature!
Wow! I love the rugs!
@Bea – Pattern perfection, aren’t they! 🙂
The S&P set is sweet….I also like the tambourine tray!
@Caroline – That piece is so much fun! 🙂
Everything! 😉
@Mark – Right there with ya! 🙂
I’m not normally a fan of IKEA but this is cool. Thanks for sharing.
@Smithy – Isn’t it the best when a new collection from a brand surprises you like that? Glad you like it!
Lovin everything in this post but I will take the S&P shakers, the stools and those sandals please!
@Mary Beth – Done, done and done! Hahaha
Love it!!
Create textiles is sensational, a few months ago I learned from a fashion designer to do it, but I have not given the time to do it again.
The worst is that I and a half meters of fabric I designed and have not gone to pick up my fabric.
@Dessirée – You must pick up the fabric if you can, it would be so exciting for you to see it. Then you could make pillows etc. from it too! 🙂
Yes! i think can go for my fabric in a couple of days. Happy Easter!!
Such a great collection. We’ve just returned from Rio and the bench is just what we’ve been looking for to go with our dining table. And brilliantly they had in stock in London today!
@Robert – Rio must have been amazing! So pleased you managed to get the piece you were looking for from the collection today! 🙂
Neimayer would be proud! Between this and Target x Marimekko I’m going to own a lot of bold graphics
@Tara – SO excited for that TxM collab.!
Looks like the bench is no longer available in USA. Oh, well!
