One of the best things about living in a big city like NYC is how frequently I stumble upon a new-to-you design store. (It’s a plus that makes up for the stink and grime of big city living – ha!) I’d heard about Home of the Brave several times since their 2014 launch but until Monday I had yet to visit their now permanent location in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I happened upon the store by chance and it was so full of #MakeYouSmileStyle pieces I knew I had to share the space and designs with you guys. Click through after the jump to see the whole tour!
One of my home office spaces in an old London apartment was decorating in the same pastel palette as these blue, mint, yellow and pink vases; seeing these lined up like this took my right back to it!Home of the Brave started as a seasonal pop-up store ran by a husband and wife duo. They felt that the items you treasure the most in your wardrobe and home usually have a story behind them; in their mind, each piece has something that gives them meaning and a platform for conversation. So, in February 2014 they translated their refined and honest design aesthetic into Home Of The Brave.Their shops are known for their made in the USA and Fair Trade focuses with an elevated curation of Designers and Makers, each presented in inspiring and thoughtful atmospheres. Can we pease discuss these illustrated palm napkins? Ob-sessed!As well as strong pops of color throughout, there are also calm, neutral corners so you can pick pieces to temper your bright accents. These cork topped ceramic storage jars caught my eye instantly – so cute! From shibori pillows and indigo ceramics through to minimalist Japanese storage pieces, there’s something for everyone inside. What’s catching your eye from my store tour? Have you visited Home of the Brave in Greenpoint? Let me know if you have any other favorite design stores I should check out in NYC or beyond! // Photography by Will Taylor
