Last year, I visited the Hamptons twice: once to photograph a beautiful property for my second book, Dream Decor, (take a peek inside the book here); and then a second time to create a travel guide based on the classic movie Something’s Gotta Give. Now, living in New York City, it’s been a pleasure to be able to head out to the Hamptons, particularly Sag Harbor (my fav!), to snatch a day or two to relax. I recently headed out East to Sag Harbor and stayed at the beautiful Baron’s Cove resort (pictured above). Click through after the jump to see what caught my eye in this quiet and charming coastal town.
Fun fact: this is Billy Joel’s house! I love how he decorated the shingle exterior of the property with colorful buoys. Their weathered finish only adds to the charm, don’t you think? When I first spotted this delightful mint front door I was cycling full pelt downhill. Having hired one of the complimentary bikes from Baron’s Cove, I had headed out to go color hunting on two wheels. Upon spotting the bike, I slammed on my breaks and made sure to capture the color before the beautiful golden hour light faded. It’s hard to walk past beautifully blooming Hydrangeas and not stop to take a picture, don’t you think?! Loved these blue beauties.Stopped for some yummy Tuscan food at DOPO La Spiaggia – a lesson in chic grey layering awaited. This house? Pretty much my dream. The shingle! The windows! The porch! So charming. After a fun day of color hunting and exploring, it was time to relax with dinner in the stunning restaurant at Baron’s Cove. The interiors throughout the property were designed by Colleen Bashaw and were tastefully nautical in vibe. My room was beautifully appointed in a soothing blue and white palette based primarily around a custom-designed striped rug and cool, crisp white linens. I enjoyed the live music out on the porch in the afternoon and evening, too. After soaking in the sunset (and what a stunner it was!), it was time for an early night before heading back to the city bright and early. Had you ever visited Sag Harbor? What inspires you from my color hunting finds? If you are keen to visit, my pals at Baron’s Cove are kindly offering Bright.Bazaar readers a $40 daily breakfast credit and late check-out (1pm) with the code ‘LINGER’. Btw, may I ask what happened to the dog you adopted in England?
@Alexa – Thanks so much! There’s so many beautiful sights to capture out there. After two days, Parsnip went back to live with her breeder due to a severe allergic reaction.
Absolutely stunning, Will! Sheer summer perfection!
@Jenn – Right?! Almost every home is a dream property! Baron’s is a great base to explore as it’s so central.
