One of my favorite things about living in New York City is the knowledge that there’s always a new place or area in the city to explore. Whether you wander through a neighborhood that’s well-trodden or take the path less travelled to an unexplored corner of the city, you can count on finding a new coffee shop, restaurant, gallery or store to inspire you. To celebrate Club Monaco adding menswear to their flagship store on Broadway in SoHo I spent a morning in the area to make a mini guide to SoHo, NYC. Check out my favorite places from this popular part of town in my guide to SoHo, NYC after the jump!
MAMAN
Maman is tucked away in a relatively quiet enclave off busy Centre Street, making it the ideal tonic to the hustle and bustle of SoHo. They serve family-inspired recipes from the South of France and North America, bringing to life both savory and sweet childhood favorites. They source their ingredients locally and the coffee is divine. Run, don’t walk – it’s the perfect place to fuel up for some shopping! For my explorations around SoHo I wore this Club Monaco outfit, which quite possibly the best fitting pair of jeans I’ve ever worn (seriously!) and this belted plaid trench coat which had three compliments in one morning. And, let’s face it, that’s always a lovely way to bring a smile to your day, right?! I also wore: a navy sweater (this isn’t online yet but keep an eye out for it here); this medium wash denim shirt; and a lightweight grey bomber jacket (also not online yet, but check back here).CANAL STREET MARKET
My next stop was at Canal Street Market, a relatively new lifestyle store located where SoHo meets Chinatown. Right now, there’s a diverse array of independent artists and makers selling everything from fashion to home decor. A new food hall is set to open in March, too. In the meantime, don’t miss the colorful relaxation and work space located at the back of the market.CLUB MONACO
Of course, no trip to SoHo is complete without popping my head into Club Monaco to see what new items have dropped since my last visit. The new menswear section inside their flagship store on Broadway opened on Friday and it’s a sartorial treat – check it out downstairs at that location!TBH I’ve been so grateful for the pockets of spring-like sunshine we’ve had on and off this month – it’s made the seemingly endless days of rain more bearable!LADUREE
It would have been wrong not to make a quick stop into Ladurée for some pistachio, rose petal and lemon macaroons, right? Clearly, I was enjoying them!LUPES
Of course, I rounded out the morning with a delicious lunch at one of my favs, Lupes. This ‘East LA’ kitchen brings a much welcome splash of bright color to SoHo and serves a traditional Mexican menu and delicious margaritas amongst a cheerful blue and pink setting. I hope you enjoyed my mini guide to SoHo, NYC Do you have any favorite SoHo spots?// Photography by Will Taylor
