Dare I say it but the pool area at our beach house is finally approaching a state of completion…! After sharing our new outdoor dining area and deck living area, I thought I’d bring you guys up to speed on the latest updates to our pool area. It’s been a long ride since we first installed the fiberglass pool into the back garden two years ago. Last summer, we planted the green arborvitae trees along the exterior side behind the modern pool loungers you see above. All being well the trees will grow to around 14ft so they should create a beautiful privacy hedge. Plus, they serve as a beautiful backdrop to our new Finn modern pool loungers and side tables from Design Within Reach.
Remember how I waxed lyrical about my love for Norm Architects in my post about the outdoor dining area I designed for our new deck? Well, I loved the Finn collection they designed so much that I knew I had to get their modern pool loungers from the same collection, too! I love how comfortable they are even with such a clean profile. Honestly, so good! Plus, they have waterproof Sunbrella covers. Win, win!
The umbrellas are a few years old and were from One Kings Lane. I love how they pair so well with the white pillow toppers of the Finn loungers. It’s like they were meant to be! I placed rosemary plants in between each of the loungers. I love their scent and they naturally repel bugs which is a huge added benefit by a pool. Two olive trees flank either end of the pool area. They are growing so fast already, which I think is because the pool gets sun alllllll day long! Together, the rosemary and the olive trees add a dash of Mediterranean vibes to the pool area which I love!
I love the clean lines of the Finn pool loungers Soaking up the last of the day’s rays!
I wasn’t kidding about this area being soaked in sunshine all day — above you can see that I was soaking up the last of the day’s rays at almost 8pm the other night! The Uma sound lantern makes it feel like we’re relaxing poolside on vacation as the sound quality is so good, Plus, as the sunsets, the warm glow from the lantern creates an atmospheric mood.
The shadow from the house just misses the pool for most of the summer. It comes across a little towards the end of the summer as the sun lowers in the sky. What do you think of our poolside updates for summer 2020? Let me know if you have any questions about the new additions. Happy to try and help!
Yes, I matched my swimwear to the umbrellas. Naturally! A comfortable spot to read at golden hour
